GAUCÍN THIS IDEAL PLACE TO SAMPLE SOME SPORTS TOURISM
Gaucín Backyard 2025
On February 1st and 2nd, the Gaucín Town Hall (with the collaboration of Gecko Genal Sports Club) is organizing the GAUCÍN BACKYARD ULTRA sports race.
This circular sporting event has a route of 6,7 km. Participants (around 200 registered for the 2025 edition) have to complete the route in less than an hour. If they finish the lap in that time, then they can continue with the next circular lap.
The objective of this race is to complete as many laps as possible within the stipulated time.
The winner is the final person to complete the route within time. (If they do not manage to complete that last loop in less than an hour or have to drop out, the event will be left without a winner!)The winner of the 2024 event was Juan José Vidal from Jerez with 40 laps followed by the Catalan Eric Priego with 39 laps.
This mountain race is an official event of the Backyard Ultra calendar worldwide, an event created by Lazarus Lake, the organizer of the famous and legendary Barkley Marathons in the Frozen Head natural park in Tennessee, United States.
